We're thrilled to release our newest collection of songs titled "Live At The Studio Bunker". The best part, it's free! No money. No email address. Nothing. Nada. Yours to take and share.
You can download the songs from our music page or directly at our BandCamp site.
We hope you enjoy!
We're looking forward to another great live show in Indianapolis this March.
On Thursday, March 14 at Birdy's we'll be opening for The Whiskey Gentry, a country-bluegrass-americana band from Atlanta, GA. Paste Magazine described them as a band that "effortlessly marries old country and new grit, carrying you along into the Appalachians with the pull of a landslide".
Also performing that evening is Jacob Jones, an Americana rock ‘n roll artist from Nashville, TN.
We'll be performing some of our new songs that will be released to the public soon.
See you there!

We'll be performing at the historic Melody Inn in Indianapolis on Wednesday, January 2. We're looking forward to debuting some new songs. Might be some of our best material yet. Also performing will be James & The Drifters, a folk-rock band from Huntington, IN. Doors open at 8pm. Attakulla hits the stage at 9pm.
For anyone that knows my musical tastes here's a list of my favorite music that was released in 2012. Some are albums. Some are singles. This is by no means a "best of" since it's nearly impossible for me or anyone else to have listened to all the great songs from this year. Rather, these are the 15 artists, albums and/or songs that were in constant rotation wherever I went.
Lee Bains III & The Glory Fires - Total Destruction To Your Mind
The Dirty Guv'nahs - Somewhere Beneath These Southern Skies
Nada Surf - The Stars Are Indifferent to Astronomy
The District Attorneys - Jr.
Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit - Live From Alabama
Gark Clark Jr. - Blak And Blu
Delta Spirit - Delta Spirit
Band Of Skulls - Sweet Sour
Gaslight Anthem - Handwritten
Japandroids - Celebration Rock
John Mayer - Born and Raised
Of course, the other great album was our own, but I won't bother with such shameless self-promotion...
I can't remember how I discovered The District Attorneys last year, but I do know I was able to listen and download a collection of their songs, "Waiting on the Calm Down: The Basement Sessions EP", for free. In today's media world it's the only way to gain traction with potential fans. That EP included the song "Wrecking Ball" which is a gripping tune showcasing multiple singers. Makes you feel like you're part of the band.
Well, they've done it again with a new EP titled "Jr". It's free. It's good. It's worth a listen. And if you're like me, you'll be hooked and anticipating the next release.
If your drummer wears noise-canceling headphones while playing live, you're in a loud band.

When I was in high school one of my musician friends introduced me to a band called fIREHOSE. Knowing little about them I bought a used CD of their album "Flyin' the Flannel". At first listen I was less than interested. But this was 1991 meaning you didn't just skip ahead to the next artist like you do on Pandora today. Since I had invested in the album I listened to it over and over. Before long I realized what a musical genius Mike Watt really was. The rhythms were complicated but yet truly interesting. This was not your typical bass player.
Skip ahead to 2012 and Mike Watt is still at it with his band Mike Watt & The Missingmen.
So tonight when I saw that the Alabama TV show "We Have Signal" recorded a performance of one of their shows I couldn't help but watch it.
I encourage you to watch some of this show if for nothing else than the musical history stories that he tells. Fascinating.

Today is Cyber Monday and with that we're making our entire album "Boys & Girls, Brides & Guns" available as a free download.
Ok, to be honest, the album has always been a free download. But hey, doesn't it feel good to get something for free today while the rest of the world is crazily spending money on the internet?
Go to attakulla.com to download the songs. We love ya!
We're pleased to announce that we overhauled the Attakulla website. The new look includes our music, photos, show schedule, and a new blog. Connect with us on the site or on any of our social network profiles to keep up to date with the band.
Hope you like it!
